Application Control explained in latest Sophos podcast

John Shaw discusses how Sophos can help companies control which applications their employees can use.
Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against computer threats, today announced that it has published a new podcast describing its new Application Control solution.
The new capabilities in Sophos Anti-Virus provide system administrators with the means to control unauthorized use of VoIP, peer-to-peer (P2P) and instant messaging (IM) applications by employees.
In the podcast, entitled "Application control: Taking back control", John Shaw, Group Product Manager at Sophos, is interviewed by Carole Theriault about how to prevent employees from using unauthorized software.
"In a survey published by Sophos over 86 percent of system administrators said that they wanted the power to block VoIP programs on their network," said Carole Theriault, host of the Sophos podcast. "Internet telephony, instant messaging and peer-to-peer programs are in themselves completely legitimate consumer applications, but may simply not always be appropriate for the business environment. In this podcast, John Shaw helps explain the concerns that network administrators have, and how Sophos can help provide a solution to the problem."
