Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses, spyware and spam, today announced that experts from SophosLabs™, will be presenting at the Virus Bulletin 2006 (VB2006) conference in Montreal, 11-13 October 2006.

The Virus Bulletin conference is the industry's leading forum where anti-virus researchers and corporations meet to discuss the issues facing computer users. It is the one opportunity during the year when companies can talk face-to-face with the developers who produce anti-malware solutions from all of the major security vendors.

Sophos speakers over the three day conference include:

Jason Bruce, Manager of Detection Development, "The challenge of detecting and removing installed threats". Jason's paper discusses the issues that are faced by anti-malware vendors when detecting and removing modern threats.

Ross Thomas and Dmitry Samosseiko, Head of Spam Operations, "The game goes on: an analysis of modern spam techniques". Spam experts Ross and Dmitry analyse the many modern anti-anti-spam techniques, with statistical reports and real-life examples. Methods of combating these often highly effective and 'popular' spam techniques are explored.

Paul Ducklin, Head of Technology Asia Pacific, "Can strong authentication sort out phishing and fraud?". Paul's presentation traces the recent and rapid evolution of malware techniques in response to technological changes in security regimes.

Richard Baldry, Head of Strategic Alliances, Chairing "Anti-Spyware Coalition - working together to combat spyware" panel discussion.

The 16th Virus Bulletin International Conference will take place 11-13 October 2006 at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
