Global director of SophosLabs™ to speak at RSA about modern malware Mark Harris discusses viruses, spyware and spam

Mark Harris, global director of SophosLabs™, will be presenting at the RSA Conference.
Sophos, a world leader in security and control, today announced that Mark Harris, global director of SophosLabs™ will speak on the topic of Modern Malware - viruses, spyware and spam at the RSA Conference in San Francisco on Thursday, February 8, 2007.
Harris’s presentation, titled, "Modern Malware The Fine Art of Hunting Viruses, Spyware & Spam" will discuss the shifts in style, substance, and techniques used to identifying viruses, spam and malware that hit our IT shores daily and how developers hunt down these threats in time to save networks and valuable data from damage. Harris will also discuss what might be the next evolution for these threats.
Harris leads Sophos's team of experts, based in the UK, Australia, Canada, and US, which issues 24-hour protection in order to ensure its customers' networks automatically detect and block new threats. He also manages proactive technology development, including Sophos's Genotype® Protection technology, which uses forensic analysis to identify suspicious patterns and characteristics unique to either a virus family or a spam campaign.
Most recently, Mark presented the "Evolution of the Network Threatscape” at the Economic Crime Institute of Utica College. The discussion focused on organized cybercriminals and how they continue to use sophisticated methods as well as the importance of understanding how modern hackers and spammers operate in order to effectively protect against them.
He also participated in a panel of experts where they discussed and demonstrated the latest trends in financially motivated malware at the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) conference in Brussels, Belgium. Mark also presented in Stockholm, Sweden on the topic of Malware - Virus, spyware and rootkits.
