Sophos podcast reveals the latest security threats and trends Findings of the Sophos Security Threat Report July 2008 discussed in new podcast
IT security and control firm Sophos today announced the availability of a new podcast discussing the Sophos Security Threat Report July 2008.
Sophos has published new research into the first six months of cybercrime in 2008. The Sophos Security Threat Report examines existing and emerging security trends and has identified that criminals are increasingly using creative new techniques in their attempt to make money out of internet users.
It is estimated that the total amount of malware in existence now exceeds 11 million, with Sophos currently receiving approximately 20,000 new samples of suspicious software every single day - one every four seconds.
In the podcast, Graham Cluley senior technology consultant at Sophos, is interviewed by Carole Theriault, host of the Sophos podcasts, offering listeners a snapshot of the latest findings in the report.
"Some of the tactics malware authors and spammers are employing to bypass traditional methods of protection are unprecedented," said Carole Theriault. "With more high-profile websites being exploited and more non-Windows platforms being targeted, this podcast aims to educate users on what is going on, so they can ensure they are sufficiently protected."
All Sophos podcasts are available for download. Previous podcasts have covered topics such as the dangers of social networking sites, virtualization, anti-virus testing, and rootkits.
