Enterprise Console: error "RMS configuration file cac.pem not found"
With Enterprise Console, the following error can be returned during the installation of the Sophos Remote Management System (RMS) package:
RMS configuration file cac.pem not found
The error number 1722 may also be returned.
Check the RMS install log. By default this is located in %windir%\temp\Sophos RMS install log.txt.
What to do
- Ensure that the files 'cac.pem' and 'mrinit.conf' are present in the appropriate Central Installation Directory (CID). For Windows XP this would usually be \\<servername>\InterChk\ESXP.
- If the above files are not present in that folder, copy them to that location from \\<servername>\SophosEM.
- On the affected workstation, re-run the installer from the folder:
\\<servername>\interchk\ESXP\
The files cac.pem and mrinit.conf should then be copied from the server to the folder C:\Programs Files\Sophos\Remote Management System on the workstation, and installation should complete correctly.
If this does not work:
- Copy the files 'cac.pem' and 'mrinit.conf' from:
\\<servername>\InterChk\ESXP\
to:
C:\Program Files\Sophos\Remote Management System\
on the affected workstation.
Note: You may need to create this folder manually. - Then re-run the installer from:
\\<servername>\InterChk\ESXP\
If problems persist:
- Rename the CIDs.
- Delete the CIDs from your EM Library installation.
- Add and configure a new CID for each package.
- Once your are sure that the files have downloaded and installed correctly, delete the old renamed CIDs.
