Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: Sophos AutoUpdate fails with error code 80040f09
Sophos AutoUpdate fails when downloading. The following error messages and code are found in the alc.log.
80040f09ERROR: the operation failed due to an unknown errorERROR: downloading from the primary server failed
In some circumstances, a further error message is present:
17406364: Unable to contact server
These error messages are seen when incorrect credentials are used.
What to do
Check the username and password used by the affected computer when downloading. These will usually be your EM Library credentials.
