Advisory: Reboot requests and Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, version 5.2.0
This product is nearing retirement. We strongly recommend that you upgrade in order to ensure your protection stays fully up to date.
Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, version 5.2.0, will be available in the week commencing 13 March 2006. When a computer is updated to this version, it will request a reboot. This reboot is a requirement of the Windows operating system, and is caused by a filter driver update.
- You do not need to reboot immediately after installing the update. Regardless of when you reboot, Sophos
Anti-Virus will continue to function correctly, and will be updated with the latest virus identity files (IDEs). - You can suppress the reboot request. Doing this will not suppress the reports to Enterprise Console from computers that have not upgraded. This functionality was added in Sophos
Anti-Virus version 5.1.6.
Note: When drivers were updated in the the older versions of Sophos
