Advisory: PureMessage for Windows/Exchange - hourly spam rule updates now available
Hourly spam rule updates are now available for PureMessage for Windows/Exchange and Sophos PureMessage Small Business Edition.
This change will further improve PureMessage's spam capture rate by delivering the latest anti-spam rules direct from SophosLabs every hour.
Obtaining updates
- PureMessage for Windows/Exchange spam rule updates will be made available every hour direct from SophosLabs. This improvement will be available to all customers who receive their spam rule updates directly via PureMessage.
- Sophos PureMessage Small Business Edition if you receive updates via the Sophos Control Center, you will receive spam rule updates at the same time as anti-virus definition updates (about 6-8 times a day). However, Sophos recommends that you configure PureMessage to receive spam updates directly via Sophos AutoUpdate hourly.
Each update is typically about 1.5-2MB in size so Sophos do not anticipate the load impact of hourly updates to be significant. Sophos AutoUpdate can be configured to obtain updates less frequently if update regularity and size is an issue.
