EM Library: with a Windows BDC, no packages found on databank where user set to EMLibUser1
On a Windows backup domain controller (BDC), if the EM-Library security settings are set to EMLibUser1, or another user with insufficient rights, no packages are found on the databank.
What to do
You can either install EM Library on the primary domain controller (PDC) first, or change the account used to access the databank.
Install EM Library on the primary domain controller
- Install EM Library on the PDC.
- Wait for the EM Library accounts and groups to replicate across the domain.
- Install EM Library on the BDC, selecting the account used on the PDC.
Install on the BDC using a previously created account
- A knowledgebase article describes how to create an account with the correct rights and permissions.
- Install on the BDC.
- Select the account that you just created.
Technical details
If you use EM Library on a BDC, when you select a user, that user should be added to the EM Library Users group. However, because a BDC cannot create or amend user accounts, this does not work. As a result, the packages are not obtained from the databank.
If EM Library is first installed on the PDC, the accounts and groups will be created and amended correctly for the domain. When EM Library is subsequently installed on the BDC, the accounts and groups are ready.
