Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux: installation fails if EM Library is being updated
Occasionally, if an attempt is made to install Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux while EM Library is being updated, the installation will fail, with no option to uninstall. This happens because a file in the central installation directory (CID) on the Windows management server is locked while the update is taking place. An error message is generated, for example:
Unable to copy /samba/console1emlibrary/savlinux/savi/sav/looked-s.ide to /op t/sophos-av/lib/sav/looked-s.ide: Input/output error
Installation aborted.
[Errno 5] Input/output error
The installation on that computer will be incomplete, and should be repeated after the previous installation has finished.
What to do
- Wait two minutes.
- Run the installation again:
./install.sh --ignore-existing-installation
The chance of this happening at the second attempt is remote.
