EM Library: using CIDs on Windows NT servers
To update networked computers with Sophos Anti-Virus, version 5 and above, from a Windows NT server, you will need to create a central installation directory (CID) on that server from your EM Library installation. Creating extra CIDs is described in the Large Networks Configuration Guide.
What to do
- Install or upgrade, as described in the network startup and upgrade guides.
- Create an extra CID as described in section 3 (Create additional Central Installation Directories) of the Large Networks Configuration Guide.
- Set your workstations to update from that CID.
Note:
- You may find that you need to create and share the CID directory manually.
- You will need to use a network account for updating the CID. See knowledgebase article 12522 for details on creating a new account on Windows 2000/2003, and on utilizing an existing account.
