EM Library: Failed to connect to CID using SophosEmLibUser1

Issue
Failure to connect to the CID using SophosEmLibUser1 (or another account)

You may see errors in the EM Library Event Viewer similar to:

warning deploy task has succeeded but there were exceptions..
...
 
failed to connect to cid using sophosemlibuser1 + or other accounts
...
deployed files cac.pem rminit.conf 000000.dat

EM Library 1.3+

Operating system
Windows 2000+

Technical Information
This error may be seen if the account being used has not been set up correctly, for example, it has not been given rights to 'log on as batch job'.

What to do

  1. Create an account, or use an existing account and make it a member of
      • Local Administrators
      • Domain users
      • EMlibrary Users
      • Sophos Console Administrators
      • Sophos DB Admins
      • SophosAdministrator
  2. In Windows Security Settings, go to Local Policies|User Rights Assignment.
  3. Select 'Log on as a batch job' and ensure the above account is listed here.
  4. In EM Library go to Tools|Options|Security. Ensure the above account is the one listed here. 
  5. Select Em Library (Server\Sophos) and right-click.
  6. In Properties click the Credentials tab and ensure the Global CID is set to use the above account.
