What to do

1. Check the updating address is correct

  1. Close Sophos Control Center if it is open.
  2. Right-click the Sophos shield, and select 'Configure Updating'.
  3. Ensure that the address path is \\<Name of your server>\Sophos\SAVSCFXP.
  4. Click 'Cancel', and exit from 'Properties'.

2. Reset the Sophos Control Center

  1. Open My Computer
    • go to the folder C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\Files. Delete all the files in this folder.
    • go to the folder C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\SAVSCFXP. Delete all the files in this folder.
  2. You must now edit the registry. Read the information and warning about this and ensure that you feel confident to do so.
  3. Click Start|Run, then type regedit. In the Registry Editor window, browse to the following registry key:
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE|Sophos|SBE|Management Tools
  4. In the right-hand pane,
    • make sure the value of the CID share is set to \\<name of your server>\Sophos in the Data column
    • change the 'SetupStatus' value from 1 to 0
  5. Exit the registry.
  6. Create a new Active Directory account 'SophosUpdate' with administrator rights. For details of how to do this, consult your Microsoft documentation.
  7. Re-start Sophos Control Center. Because you made changes to the registry, it will re-run the setup wizard. When it gets to step 3, select 'Advanced' and enter the 'SophosUpdate' account that you created in step 6.
  8. Allow the wizard to finish.
